Acorn Transport and Plant Hire Limited was formed in 1998 by Jason and Elizabeth Stevenson bringing together their shared 10 year experience in the assistance of running a busy ready mix concrete business covering the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire area as well as a groundwork company. Using this experience and their local connections they began by operating a single tipper lorry hauling aggregates and grain. This proved very successful and they then purchased lorries two and three. A low loader lorry was then put on the road followed by a further two low loaders and another tipper. Plant hire has also been demanded by our customers and the purchase of a 360 machine, digger and mini digger with operator were put to use.

Being mindful of the increased concern of the environmental impact of waste materials they decided to try their hand at skip hire and to open a recycling centre to process aggregates/builders waste/sub soil/green garden waste etc., this would then maximise the recycling potential of the skip waste collected from our customers.

Since they have been operating the skip service they have purchased two further skip lorries, numerous skip bins in varying sizes and invested heavily in shredder, crusher and screener machines which play an integral part in the development of the facility. Their most recent purchase has been a hook loader lorry which is used to carry large bins for commercial waste.
The company serves a diverse range of customers from the DIY garden makeover customer to local builders, farmers, councils, clubs and national companies.

They are registered waste carriers and are fully insured, skip permits can be supplied upon request.
